JD/LLM University of Hong Kong
Double Degree (JD/LLM) Program - University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law, Hong Kong, SAR
This exciting new program offers University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School students the chance to earn an LLM degree from Hong Kong University (HKU) in addition to their JD. Students spend their third year of law school studying for an LLM with top-notch faculty at Hong Kong University’s historic campus. Hong Kong is the legal and financial capital of Asia, and the regional home for the world’s major law firms, financial firms and important regulators and adjudication bodies. It is also an important gateway to the People’s Republic of China. This program offers excellent opportunities for students interested in a broad range of corporate and transactional areas as well as in China’s legal system. All courses are taught in English.
University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School students apply to the HKU program in the fall of the second year. Students first apply to the Office of International Affairs and, if approved, they apply directly to Hong Kong University for admission in the fall of the third year. The LLM is a good foundation for Law School students considering admission to Hong Kong’s Postgraduate Certificate in Laws and legal practice in Hong Kong, but the LLM degree alone is not likely to be sufficient preparation for admission.
