Rick D'Avino is a Special Advisor at General Atlantic. Prior to joining GA, Rick was Vice President and Senior Tax Counsel at General Electric Company for over 20 years.
Rick graduated from the Wharton School, Summa Cum Laude, in 1976 and Penn Law, Cum Laude, in 1980. Following law school, Rick clerked for Judge Alvin B. Rubin on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Rick was an associate at Cohen & Uretz and a partner at King & Spalding. Rick also served as an Attorney-Advisor and Deputy Tax Legislative Counsel in the United States Treasury Department's Office of Tax Policy from 1983-1987.
Rick has been a member of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council and the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association's Tax Section. Rick served as an Adjunct Professor at the Georgetown University Law Center and is now a Lecturer in Law at Penn.
While at Penn Law, Rick was an Arthur Littleton Legal Writing Instructor, an Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, President of the Class of 1980, a member of the Order of the Coif and was awarded the Bernard A. Chertcoff Prize for Taxation. He also has served as President of the Board of Managers of the Law Alumni Society.
