Joseph D. Gatto

Joseph Gatto is the Founder and Managing Partner of Orient Point Partners which is engaged in investment banking, strategic advisory services and investments.

Mr. Gatto was a Partner at Perella Weinberg Partners between 2012 and 2018, where he led the Firm’s consumer products and retail practices.

Prior to Perella Weinberg, Mr. Gatto was Chairman of Investment Banking at Barclays Americas and served as Global Co-Head of Corporate Finance.

Prior to joining Barclays in 2008, Mr. Gatto was Vice Chairman of Lehman Brothers, where he served as Global Co-Head of Corporate Finance and also served, from 2005 to 2007, as Global Chairman of Mergers and Acquisitions.

Before 2005, Mr. Gatto spent 21 years at Goldman Sachs. He joined Goldman in Mergers and Acquisitions in 1984 and also spent one year working on corporate restructurings in the Structured Finance Group. In 1991, he organized the Strategic Advisory Group in Investment Banking and began his concentration on the consumer products sector. Mr. Gatto became a partner at Goldman in 1994 and served as Global Chairman of Consumer Products Banking.

Over the course of the past 15 years, Mr. Gatto advised clients on over $475 billion of transactions, primarily in the consumer, health care and retail sectors.

Mr. Gatto earned his AB, magna cum laude, from Princeton University, his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and his JD, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. During 2018, Mr. Gatto was an Advanced Leadership Fellow at Harvard University. 

Mr. Gatto is a member of the Board of Overseers at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and a member of the Advisory Council of the Institute of Law and Economics.
