Helen Pudlin L'74

Lecturer in Law

Ms. Pudlin retired from The PNC Financial Services Group where she served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. She served as General Counsel for more than 18 years and was a member of the Executive Committee of the corporation. Before joining PNC, she was a partner in the law firm of Ballard Spahr, where she co-chaired the firm’s health law group and was a commercial litigator.


Pudlin is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Wistar Institute and is a member of the Board of Trustees of The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company. She is on the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, on the Board of Advisors of the University of Pennsylvania Institute for Law and Economics, and on the Board of Trustees of KIPP Philadelphia Charter School and KIPP West Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School. Pudlin also is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.


In 1997, Pudlin was honored as one of the Pennsylvania’s Best 50 Women in Business. In 2005, she received the Alumni Award of Merit from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. In 2007, she was named to Diversity Journal’s list of Women Worth Watching in 2008. In 2010, she was honored as a Woman of Distinction by the Legal Intelligencer. In 2011, she was honored at the Girls Inc. 2011 New York Luncheon Celebrating Women of Achievement and received the Pennsylvania Most Powerful and Influential Women Award by the National Diversity Council.
