Hope Comisky

Lecturer in Law

Hope A. Comisky is a Partner in the Philadelphia office of Pepper Hamilton LLP and serves as Professional Responsibility Counsel. In this role, Ms. Comisky provides advice to Pepper lawyers on conflicts and related professional responsibility issues. Ms. Comisky is also a member of the Firm’s Office of the General Counsel. In that role, Ms. Comisky provides advice and directs proactive initiatives relating to risk management issues.

Ms. Comisky just completed a three-year appointment as Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Committee on Professional Guidance. She continues to serve on that committee and on the Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Both committees regularly issue opinions to bar association members on a broad range of ethical issues presented to lawyers. Ms. Comisky also serves as Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Committee on Professional Responsibility, which comments on amendments to the rules and other systemic changes on professional responsibility issues and provides continuing legal education programming.
Ms. Comisky speaks regularly on professional responsibility issues. She also is the co-author of “Don’t Be a Twit - Avoiding the Ethical Pitfalls Facing Lawyers Utilizing Social Media in Three Important Arenas -- Discovery, Communications with Judges and Jurors, and Marketing,” 20 Temple University Political & Civil Rights Law Review 101 (Spring 2011) (upcoming). Ms. Comisky received her Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She then served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph L. McGlynn, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania before going into private practice.
