Colin Diver

Colin Diver is the Charles A. Heimbold, Jr., Professor of Law and Economics Emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania. He served as Dean of the Penn Law School from 1989 – 1999, and as a professor of law at Penn Law from 1989 – 2002, before leaving to become President of Reed College in Portland, OR. After retiring from the Reed presidency in 2012, he returned to his home town of Boston, MA, where he teaches courses in administrative law and telecommunications regulation at Boston University, serves on the board of directors of several social justice organizations, writes, consults, and plays lots of squash. A graduate of Amherst College and the Harvard Law School, Diver worked for the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts before starting his teaching career at Boston University School of Law. He is the co-author of Administrative Law: Cases and Materials (Aspen Casebook Series, 7th ed. 2016), and also the author of many journal articles, essays, and reviews on administrative law and government regulation. His wife Joan is an author, and his two sons and their families live in Philadelphia.
