Summary:

Shows southern race relations in the years prior to 1954 and discusses racial discrimination. Although there had always been resistance to racism and segregation, in the mid-1950s, there was an organized involvement in the struggle for freedom. Includes: lynching of Emmett Till; Rosa Parks and the Montgomery, Ala. bus boycott; and the formation of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
