The Honorable Mary A. McLaughlin is a United States District Court Judge in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Before her appointment to the bench in May 2000, she was a litigation partner at Dechert, Price & Rhoads in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1995, Judge McLaughlin acted as Special Counsel to the United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Government Information in connection with the Ruby Ridge hearings. While at Dechert, she was Chair of the Board of the Womens Law Project. Before joining Dechert, Judge McLaughlin was an Assistant Professor of Law at Vanderbilt University. She also has lectured at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Rutgers University Law School-Camden. Before teaching, Judge McLaughlin was an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia. Before becoming a prosecutor, she was an associate at Arnold & Porter in Washington, DC. Judge McLaughlin clerked for the Honorable Stanley S. Brotman of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. She is a graduate of Gwynedd-Mercy College, Bryn Mawr College, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
