Summary:

Since 1994, the Alliance for Justice has organized First Monday in an effort to bring attention to a critical public policy issue every year. The purpose of First Monday is to reach out to young people and inspire them to become activists for change. Every year on the first Monday in October, the opening of the Supreme Court’s session, First Monday unites student activists on college, university, and law school campuses nationwide to fight for social justice. This award-winning film tells the story of a death-row prisoner in Texas whose lawyer fell asleep during his trial and who has a strong claim of innocence. It also follows up on one of the immigrants featured in the 1997 First Monday film.
