Summary:

Since 1994, the Alliance for Justice has organized First Monday in an effort to bring attention to a critical public policy issue every year. The purpose of First Monday is to reach out to young people and inspire them to become activists for change. Every year on the first Monday in October, the opening of the Supreme Court’s session, First Monday unites student activists on college, university, and law school campuses nationwide to fight for social justice. Highlights the stories of families in three areas of the U.S. [migrant farmers in Washington State; Chicago African-American housing discrimination; Montgomery County, MD low income families and the Housing Opportunities Council] who have grappled with the lack of affordable housing. Will inspire students and activists to act on behalf of those who have been denied what was set forth as the goal of the 1949 Housing Act -- a decent home and suitable living environment for every American family....
