I really enjoyed the Hauerwas piece. I've always found him to be hard to pin down, and I think your essay does it about right.

I ran across a video of Hauerwas making a hash of Romans 12-13, in which Hauerwas denies that chapter 13 legitimizes state force. It seems to me, in light of that discovery, that Hauerwas might consider the whole enterprise of Christian legal theory a bit Constantinian.
