Greetings from The Goat
Hello, dear friends!
The start of the fall semester is upon us again. Along with the changing of the leaves, we are also seeing a changing of the guard at Penn Law. Allow me to introduce our newest Dean, Ted Ruger! Ted and I are old pals - he most recently served as deputy dean here at Penn Law and he has been a faculty member here since 2004, with expertise in constitutional law and health law. If you haven’t yet had the chance to meet my extraordinary friend, you’re in luck! Over the next year, Dean Ruger will be conducting “Ted Talks” in various cities around the globe to connect with Penn Law alumni. I’ll hold down the fort here, but I hope you can attend one of these events to meet Ted and catch up with your fellow alumni.
Soon I will have to bid farewell to my longtime friend, Dean of Students Gary Clinton. We’ve been fortunate to have Gary with us for over 35 years. He has tirelessly cultivated the tight-knit, vibrant, and supportive community that we all know and love at the Law School. We will dearly miss his kind, ubiquitous presence on campus. Join me in wishing Gary a fond farewell on November 12th!
During this exciting period of transition, what better time is there to pay your favorite Goat a visit? There are some terrific events coming up, including the 2015 Holt Lecture, Parents and Partners Day for the 1Ls, and ILE’s Distinguished Jurist lecture! I would love for you to drop by and say hello soon!
And now I must sign off - my humble abode (a.k.a. the Haaga Lounge) is teeming with wonderful new 1Ls for me to meet! But please keep up with me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and our Multimedia page. Until next time, my fine friends!
