Greetings from The Goat

Welcome to the Class of 2019! The end of August is one of the best times of the year, as I get to meet a bunch of new friends and watch them start their Penn Law journey! The new class of 1Ls, over 240 of them, represents 115 undergraduate institutions with a wide variety of backgrounds, from art history to engineering. Alongside our JD students, the newest class of LLM students hails from over 30 different countries. Additionally, while I’ve said goodbye to Gary Clinton and Howard Lesnick, I get to welcome two new faculty members: Beth Simmons and Ryan Doerfler!

This fall is packed with great events here at the Law School and Penn. The Perry World House, led by our own Professor Burke-White, will have a two-day grand opening beginning September 19th. We will welcome Nina Totenberg, NPR’s award-winning legal affairs correspondent, to Penn Law on September 26 th as she discusses her career covering the U.S. Supreme Court. A Penn Law tradition, Parents & Partners Day, will take place on October 10th. Additionally, the Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Series will host a lecture on November 1st, featuring Judge Patrick Robinson of the International Court of Justice. There are many more events going on – for all the details, please check our Events calendar.

For my friends who can’t make it back to Penn Law, I hope you’ll consider joining one of the many Penn Law Alumni Clubs around the U.S. and the world. These clubs are a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow alumni, plan events, and help Penn Law reach out to alums in a variety of careers and locations!

I’ll sign off for now, but just a reminder – Reunion (the absolute best time of the year!) will be here before you know it! I can’t wait to see everyone again. And for those who just had their Reunion, it was great to see you!

Yours loyally,
The Goat
