Penn Law’s Kilgore Society Presents
Trailblazing Penn Law Women: Past, Present, and Future

imageCelebrating 130 Years of Penn Law Alumnae

130 years ago, Carrie Burnham Kilgore completed her law school studies and graduated as a member of Penn Law’s Class of 1883, establishing herself as our first alumna and one of the first female law school graduates in the country.

Her quests to formally study law, to gain admission to practice, and to earn the trust and respect of her clients and peers demonstrated remarkable tenacity, intelligence, and a passion for the profession. She opened the doors for generations of Penn Law women to do the same, and this panel highlights the career paths and lives of a handful of our many distinguished alumnae over the years who have continued in this spirit.

Judge Carolyn Engel Temin FA’55, L’58, International Judicial Consultant; Senior Judge, Court of Common Pleas, 1st Judicial District of Pennsylvania (ret’d)

Laura Ross Blumenfeld L’73, Assistant General Counsel, Office of the General Counsel of the Federal Bureau of Investigation
