Student Life at Penn

Congratulations on your admission to Penn Carey Law’s Class of 2023!

I’d like to take a minute to share what makes this place special among law schools.

You have probably already heard that law school teaches you how to “think like a lawyer.” That’s true, and Penn Carey Law will certainly challenge you to think critically and analytically. But our law school experience expands far beyond the classroom. We are committed to supporting all facets of your professional and personal development by fostering collegiality, innovation, and engagement during your time here.

The Student Affairs team is proud of the Law School’s reputation for balancing an exemplary professional education with a vibrant student life experience. Penn Carey Law students participate in countless extracurricular and co-curricular activities covering a range of interests, from a bowling league to mock trial to our veterans club. Each year, more than 90 student groups, clubs, and associations put on hundreds of social events, conferences, speakers, lunches, and dinners.

Our students also benefit from, and contribute to, the larger University. Penn Carey Law students actively participate in cross-disciplinary opportunities across campus connecting the law with science, medicine, business, bioethics, public policy, and more. This enriching and multi-dimensional education prepares students for a changing legal landscape and allows our graduates to be on the forefront of cutting-edge thinking and leadership.

What does this mean for you? It means that joining our law school gives you the unique ability to take ownership over your legal education and to build the community around you. You can learn how to think like a lawyer – and how to transform the world like a Penn Carey Law lawyer.
