• November 28 - 29, 2024: Closed to all for Thanksgiving
• December 7 - 20, 2024: Closed to visitors during final exams.
• December 23, 2024: Winter Recess begins

All visitors to the building must have a valid photo ID and enter the building through the Sansom St. entrance (Sansom St. between 34th and 36th Streets). Please see below for office hours and contact information for JD Admissions, Graduate Programs and Master in Law Program.

The JD Admissions Office is pleased to offer student-led tours during the Fall semester on the below dates. These tours are the only student-led tours offered for prospective applicants during the 2024 - 2025 academic year. If you are unable to attend one of the below dates, you are welcome to take a self-guided tour during building hours. If you are unable to visit the Law School in-person, please take the time to view a recorded virtual tour with current students.

Registration is required. Guests are welcome to attend. We will send further logistical details about a week before each tour date.

Applicants and their guests are welcome to take a self-guided tour of the Law School facilities during building hours.

We require that you register by email (contactadmissions@law.upenn.edu) at least 24-hours before arrival so you can be added to the visitor list. Prospective applicants who do not register before arrival will not be granted access to the Law School facilities.

During your visit, you are welcome to stop by the JD Admissions Office during our above office hours: our front desk staff will be happy to answer any general questions about the Law School admissions process or Penn Carey Law’s offerings and programmings. Due to the high volume of requests made by prospective students for individual appointments, Admissions Counselors are unable to meet individually with prospective applicants.

Penn Carey Law is located at 3501 Sansom Street in Philadelphia, directly on the University of Pennsylvania campus.

From Philadelphia International Airport:

• By train: Convenient train service from the airport to 30th Street Station is available through SEPTA’s Airport Express Train, which leaves every half-hour. The fare is $6.00 (subject to change), and the trip takes approximately 25 minutes. The University City Station is about a five-minute walk west on Spruce Street to our campus. The 30th Street Station is about a 10- to 15-minute walk or approximately a $5 cab ride to Penn Carey Law.
• By cab: A metered cab ride from the airport to campus generally costs $28.50 flat rate (subject to change) plus tip and takes approximately 20 minutes.

Transit by Amtrak or Bus

• Amtrak provides intercity rail service to Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. Frequent service is offered to northeastern cities including Boston, New York, Baltimore, and Washington.
• Intercity bus service is provided by Greyhound and Trailway bus lines from the terminal at 1001 Filbert Street.
• The Penn campus can be reached from the bus station on SEPTA’s Green Line (to either 36th & Sansom Streets or 37th & Spruce Streets) or Market-Frankford Line (to 34th & Market Streets).

Philadelphia Public Transportation (SEPTA)

• Philadelphia’s mass transit system is SEPTA, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. SEPTA operates a coordinated system of bus, subway, elevated train, and trolley lines that cover all of Philadelphia and parts of the surrounding counties.
• Exact cash or a fare ticket is required. Weekly and monthly transit passes are also available. Click here to learn more about SEPTA fares.
• There is a SEPTA stop on 34th and Market Streets, just one block away from Penn Carey Law. Several trolleys stop at 36th and Sansom Streets, also just one block away.
