Credit Requests for Teachers Seeking NY CLE

NY attorneys are entitled to CLE credit for time spent teaching in a law school classroom.  Credits are earned at the rate of one hour for each hour spent teaching.

To receive your credits, or to request credits for a guest speaker in your class, please print a form (PDF), complete it, and return it to:

University of Pennsylvania Law School
CLE Department
3501 Sansom Street
Philadelphia, PA  19104-6204

We will then confirm the request, sign the form, and return it to you for your use in certifying your CLE compliance with the NY State Bar Examiners.

The form (PDF) asks you to indicate the total number of hours of instruction in each of the following categories:

Ethics and Professionalism
Skills
Areas of Professional Practice

For more on the definitions of these categories, see http://www.courts.state.ny.us/attorneys/cle/1500.shtml.

Please also note:  the total number of credits available for a course is the total number of hours that course met.  If you have a guest speaker who lecturers for one hour and receives one hour of CLE credit, the total credits available to you or other lecturers in that course is reduced by that one hour.

If you have any questions, please contact Hagana Kim, Associate Director, Legal Education Programs, at khagana@law.upenn.edu.

Thank you.
