Welcome, JD Class of 2025!

September 07, 2022

The JD Class of 2025 embodies Penn Carey Law’s strong commitments to cross-disciplinary learning, advocacy, service, and academic excellence.

The University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School is thrilled to welcome the JD Class of 2025.

“The Class of 2025 is comprised of strong and impactful advocates, students who are committed to their communities and to making the world a better one for all,” said Associate Dean of Strategic Enrollment Renee C. Post. “They are also a resilient class, well-situated to engage with society’s most pressing problems.”

Out of more than 6,800 applicants, Penn Carey Law welcomed 246 students from a rich diversity of social and geographic backgrounds. Of the class, 55% of incoming students are women, 56% are students of color, and 25% are members of the LGBTQ+ community. Together, they hail from 33 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and 10 countries around the world: Bahrain, Canada, China, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Sudan, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Additionally, students in the Class of 2025 bring with them a broad wealth of academic experience. Their 65 varying undergraduate majors — 27% of which are STEM — will serve to augment our Law School’s celebration and incorporation of cross-disciplinary legal study. Moreover, 12% of the Class of 2025 hold advanced degrees beyond undergraduate achievement.

In line with Penn Carey Law’s mission to continue to expand equitable access to the legal profession, 13% of the Class of 2025 are first generation college students, and 35% are first-generation professional school students.

“We are delighted to welcome this newest class to the Law School. Each year, new students help broaden our thinking and strengthen our community, and I know the Class of 2025 is no exception,” said Dean of Students Felicia Lin L’08. “We can’t wait to see all that they contribute during their time here and beyond.”

Before the launch of fall courses, Penn Carey Law welcomed the Class of 2025 with an itinerary of orientation events introducing them to campus, to Philadelphia, and to one another.
