Matthew Fishbein

Matt Fishbein was a litigation partner at Debevoise & Plimpton, where his practice focused on white-collar criminal defense, internal investigations, and complex commercial litigation. Before that, he held senior executive positions in the U.S. Attorney’s Offices for the Southern District of New York and the Eastern District of New York, including Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Criminal Division. After retiring from Debevoise, he served as Executive Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the Brooklyn District Attorney, where he oversaw the Investigations Division. He has tried over 25 criminal and civil cases in federal and state court and argued numerous appeals in the Second Circuit and other appellate courts. He has also helped lead the defense of several major international corporations in multi-jurisdictional criminal investigations. Matt serves as a mediator with the New York Peace Institute, is a Special Master with the Appellate Division, Second Department, and is a member of the Eastern District of New York’s Mediation Panel.
Matt is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has served on the Boards of Directors of the Brooklyn Historical Society, the Bronx Defenders, Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A, the Knickerbocker Tennis Foundation, and the Theater for a New Audience.
