Graduated from Penn Law in 1931. Life University Trustee and member of the Penn Law Board of Overseers from 1956 to 1962

Segal was the chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, 1952-'53, and the president of the American Bar Association, 1969-'70. He was also a founder and co-chair of the National Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
