Prospective Law Degree Students

Course Offerings

At Penn Law, you will be able to select from an extremely interesting, intellectually challenging, and diverse range of courses.

You can review a list of the courses and seminars most recently offered at the Law School. We present our courses four ways:

  • Alphabetically By Course Name - Note that, because we may have several faculty members teaching one course (such as Corporations or Evidence), a single description is intended to present an overview and may not exactly reflect each faculty member's content or approach.
  • By Subject Area - this allows you to view all of the courses under a specific topic. Please note that many are listed in multiple categories, reflecting the cross-disciplinary focus of the particular course.
  • First Year Courses - this view permits you to see what courses are available to you as a 1L J.D. student.
  • Upper Level Courses - this view permits you to see what courses are available to you as a upper class J.D. student, or as a graduate student.

The cross-disciplinary emphasis at Penn Law means that our curriculum extends far beyond the Law School to the other graduate and professional schools on the Penn campus. You may wish to consult the course offerings at any of these programs as well.

Please keep in mind that the dynamic nature of our curriculum means that it is ever changing. Professors constantly update their content and their approaches to the subject matter and add new courses regularly to replace those that have become less relevant. Accordingly, you may see courses listed here that will not be taught in future semesters.
