Adjusting to law school is no easy task. And it's certainly not easy when you've spent the last couple years of your life doing public health work in a tiny Cameroonian village. Before coming to law school, my idea of a tough day was trekking across the savannah to teach a pastoral nomadic family how to build an improved cookstove out of mud and cow manure. Suffice it to say that I wasn't sure how I'd adjust to scrutinizing opinions written by guys with names like Puffendorf and Barbeyrac.

But one year on, I've loved every minute of it. Maybe it's the fact that there truly is a team-oriented atmosphere at Penn Law. Maybe it's the great professors who push me to think harder. Or maybe it's the fact that even after all the reading and memo-writing, I still have time to regularly sip Manhattans and go out dancing until the wee hours with my friends. For one reason or another, my first year at law school has been something it's just not supposed to be: fun.

I pride myself on the fact that I've always treaded the less-beaten path - and I plan on doing the same after graduating. It's a testament to this school's welcoming nature and open-minded attitude that I feel like I fit right in at Penn Law.
