Student and Alumni Profiles![]() Kevin YehHometown:San Francisco, CA Class Year:2010 Prior Education:A.B., Cornell University 2007 What I Did Before Law School:Although I came straight to law school, I've spent my summers interning for a federal judge in San Francisco, the Special Prosecutions Unit of the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and Senators Feinstein (CA) and Schumer (NY). What I Am Hoping to Do with My Law Degree:I hope to be a government attorney or prosecutor. My Best Experience at Penn Law:Doing the Moot Court competition was a highlight of my experience at Penn Law because it showed how far we, the students, had come now that we were able to write a complete appellate brief without anyone else's help and were given the opportunity to argue it. Professor Who Influenced Me Most:Professor Amy Wax is an inspirational teacher because she took something people routinely think of as mundane--rules of procedure--and showed us how rich and complex they could be, as well as how critical they are to whether a case wins or loses. My Favorite Course:Federal Courts with Professor Catherine Struve because the course is so ambitious in the amount of material that it covers, and everything you knew about law and the government finally came together into one concise whole. Describe How CP&P and the Center on Professionalism Are Helping Prepare You for Your Career:Suzanne Marsh has been incredibly accessible whenever I needed her and would send me personal emails checking up on me and making sure everything was OK - that sort of close attention is very valued. An Example of How the Law School's Cross-disciplinary Approach Influences My Legal Education:I took a Bioethics and psychiatry course with Professor Anita Allen and it made me see law in a completely different way. It linked together two subjects that were not intuitively related and showed what a profound impact the law can have on every person. My Favorite Philadelphia Moment:Walking through Rittenhouse Square every morning on the way to school. My Favorite Place or Activity on the University Campus:Walking on Locust Walk during winter time when the Christmas lights are strung on the trees. What I'm Most Proud Of:The opportunities and experiences I had during my law school summers, and what I have to look forward to after graduation. My Extracurricular Activities at Penn Law:Law Review, Moot Court Board, Civil Practice Clinic, APALSA, volunteer clerk at the Senior Law Center What I Did For Public Interest:Volunteer clerk at the Senior Law Center Is law right for me?Yes. And even if that turns out not to be the case, you can do no wrong in coming to law school. So many of my friends did not know whether they wanted to go to law school or not until the moment they applied and accepted. And none of them have regret coming here. No matter what you want to do, a law degree will equip you with the tools to do it. And Penn Law does that particularly well. |
