Student and Alumni Profiles George KimmetHometown:Powell, WY Class Year:2009 Prior Education:University of Wyoming; B.S. What I Did Before Law School:I spent seven summers working for a minor league baseball team. I came to law school right after getting my undergraduate degree. What I Am Hoping to Do with My Law Degree:I hope to work in private practice, possibly in estate planning or tax planning. My Best Experience at Penn Law:Getting to know my classmates has been the best experience by far. We all came here from different backgrounds, but the study of law has provided common ground for all of us. Professor Who Influenced Me Most:Professor Burbank. Professor Burbank is the stereotypical intense, brilliant, law school professor. He has imparted the importance of careful analysis and clear expression of thoughts in class. My Favorite Course:Torts featured a good blend of the study of cases involving severed body parts and a teacher with a dark sense of humor (Professor Eric Feldman); I always left class having learned something (and with a smile on my face). An Example of How the Law School's Cross-disciplinary Approach Influences My Legal Education:As a 1L, I haven't had opportunity to take classes outside of the Law School yet, but I plan on taking classes in the Wharton School and obtaining the Wharton certificate. The opportunity to take classes at the country's greatest business school is one that I look forward to. My Favorite Philadelphia Moment:My first cheesesteak. My Extracurricular Activities at Penn Law:Exploring Philadelphia with friends, working out at Pottruck fitness center. What I Did For Public Service:I am going to work for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program to help low-income families file their taxes and receive their refunds. My Favorite Place or Activity on the University Campus:The Fisher Fine Arts Library, the Pottruck Fitness Center. |
