What I Did Before Law School:

I deferred law school to do Teach For America in New York City from 2006-2008. I taught 8th grade English as a Second Language and 6th grade English at I.S. 143, Eleanor Roosevelt Junior High School in Washington Heights. I also obtained my masters in education while teaching.

What I Am Hoping to Do with My Law Degree:

Practice at a corporate law firm, and in the long term enter politics on a national stage.

My Best Experience at Penn Law:

My best experience at Penn Law was the Barrister's Ball during my 1L year. Seeing so many brilliant people enjoying themselves and interacting even during an academically challenging first year of law school was something that I will always remember.

Professor Who Influenced Me Most:

Professor Tom Baker had the biggest influence on me. His insurance perspective on torts led me to gain interest in insurance as a possible career path post grad, and he also gave me great advise during my job search. He was always accessible and candid in his analyses, which I appreciated.

My Favorite Course:

My favorite course was Contracts with Professor Jason Johnston. The professor made sure that all of the students were getting every fact out of the cases, and the students matched his intensity and devotion to the material. Professor Johnston also kept the class entertaining with a myriad of anecdotal testimony.

Describe How CP&P and the Center on Professionalism Are Helping Prepare You for Your Career:

CP&P and the Center of Professionalism are doing a good job in a down market to make sure that every student will be employed by graduation. CP&P has been active, putting together a resume collection book to send to possible employers and coaching individuals on a one on one capacity, along with increasing the focus on public sector work. The Center on Professionalism has put together many panels on the current market and strategies to emerge successful in a slow economy.

An Example of How the Law School’s Cross-disciplinary Approach Influences My Legal Education:

I will be pursuing a Certificate in Business and Public Policy at Wharton.

My Favorite Philadelphia Moment:

I have many, but from Law School it would probably be the Phillies winning the World Series in 2008. Also, arguing at the Federal Court House was a great opportunity.

My Favorite Place or Activity on the University Campus:

My favorite place on campus is Mad Mex [a restaurant across the street from the Law School].

What I'm Most Proud Of:

I am most proud of coming to a world class legal institution and discussing many elements of the law in a sensible manner.

My Extracurricular Activities at Penn Law:

Council of Student Representatives - Secretary Teach For America Alumni Chair

What I Did For Public Service:

I am currently participating in a program that is dedicated to violence prevention and dispute resolution within Philadelphia public schools.
