Student & Alumni Profiles Laura ProsperettiHometown:Rome, Italy Class Year:LLM, 2007 Prior Education:University of Roma Tre, J.D., 2002 What I Did Before Law School:I did the two year traineeship as a lawyer, working for a small Italian law firm in Rome, specializing in civil and labor law. I took the Italian bar exam last year. Why I Chose Penn Law:I chose Penn Law for many reasons among which are the high reputation of its faculty and of the other schools at UPenn and its location in Philadelphia. Once I came here I discovered that the reasons to choose UPenn were many more! My Best Experience at Penn Law:I enjoyed the many social fun events, most recently the Equal Justice Foundation (EJF) auction. Professor Who Influenced Me Most:Professor Edward Rock, because the way he leads us throughout the analysis of cases showed me how common law works. I also understood how important it is to have at least a little knowledge of corporate finance and a sense of what's happening in the business world. My Favorite Course:Securities Regulation, because Prof. Tyson teaches it in a way that it is at the same time entertaining and very effective. My Favorite Philadelphia Moment:Among the many amazing moments, I particularly enjoyed dancing salsa with my LL.M. friends, throwing parties at our place and going to ski at the Poconos! What I'm Most Proud Of:I am proud to have been admitted as an LL.M. in the same class with so many interesting, clever and nice people. My Extracurricular Activities at Penn Law:I attended many interesting conferences, lectures, brown bag lunches, and discussions. My Favorite Place or Activity on the University Campus:I like very much the Biddle Law Library and the Franklin Library, Houston Hall, the Pottruck Fitness center and the other sports facilities. Is the LL.M. very demanding?Yes, getting very good grades requires a lot of work, but the good thing is that courses are designed to let you learn during the whole semester, so that you don't end up having to study like crazy just before the exams. |
