Floriane Lavaud

Hometown:

Paris, France

Class Year:

LLM, 2007

Prior Education:

Master in Litigation and Arbitration at Paris II

What I Did Before Law School:

I worked as an associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP in Paris.

Why I Chose Penn Law:

I chose Penn Law because it is an excellent Ivy League Law School with a rather small LL.M. program (only 70 to 80 students are chosen each year). In addition, LL.M. students have the opportunity to take courses at the Wharton Business School, which is recognized as being the best business school worldwide.

My Best Experience at Penn Law:

My year at Penn Law has been a terrific experience. It is hard to find one best experience; you have to look at the year as a whole.

Professor Who Influenced Me Most:

Professor Burbank is truly an excellent professor. My interactions with him confirmed my wish to become a litigator.

My Favorite Course:

My favorite course was the Mediation Clinic Program, as it gave me the opportunity to go to court and mediate real cases.

My Favorite Philadelphia Moment:

My favorite moments in Philadelphia were our dinners at Continental and our LL.M parties.

What I'm Most Proud Of:

I am proud of having been part of the Penn Community for one year.

My Extracurricular Activities at Penn Law:

I was an LL.M advisor for the Journal of International Economic Law.

My Favorite Place or Activity on the University Campus:

I loved sitting in the courtyard during sunny days.
