Student & Alumni Profiles Celine FangHometown:Brussels, Belgium Class Year:2008 Prior Education:LL.B. English & French Law, 2005, King's College London & Université de Paris I Panthéon La Sorbonne What I Did Before Law School:I did an internship in competition law at Norton Rose in Brussels and another at the French law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel in Beijing, PRC. Why I Chose Penn Law:It is a well-established and prestigious school, located in a student city, has a beautiful campus and also, I liked the cross-disciplinary approach to education. My Best Experience at Penn Law:It might sound very nerdy but the "learning experience" has been one the best things for me at Penn Law. Professors are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, the professors I had were very respectful of their students and encouraged us to express ourselves and discuss with others. I love the respectful environment which is most conducive to academic development and the exchange of ideas. Professor Who Influenced Me Most:Perhaps Professor Michael Wachter who taught me Corporations. His class has a reputation for being tough and the workload heavy, but his classes are so enjoyable! He has a great sense of humor and provides his students with not only legal knowledge but also a good insight into the corporate world My Favorite Course:Human Rights & National Security taught by Professor William Burke-White. The class is very interactive and, as a foreign student, it is fascinating to learn about the law (US & International) related to the controversial actions/policies carried out by the US government in the context of the war on terror. My Favorite Philadelphia Moment:Walking around in the Center City, Philadelphia. What I'm Most Proud Of:Being part of Penn Law. My Extracurricular Activities at Penn Law:Immigration Clinic My Favorite Place or Activity on the University Campus:The Penn Law Courtyard when it’s not raining. |
