East Asia Law Review

Mission

The East Asia Law Review is committed to addressing current legal developments in East Asia by providing a forum for scholars and students to contribute to the development of legal affairs in the region. To this end we publish and distribute a leading journal and host a variety of events at Penn Law. In addition, we have launched and maintain the East Asia Law Blog, which we hope to develop into one of the premier online fora dedicated to discussion of recent developments in East Asian jurisprudence.

HISTORY

The East Asia Law Review was first published in 2004-2005 as the Chinese Law and Policy Review. Beginning with its 2007-2008 cycle, CLPR changed its name to the East Asia Law Review with the publication of Volume 3. Recognizing that China does not stand alone in the region, we felt that the new name would reflect our interest in a broader view of East Asia. Although the CLPR was a bilingual publication, in English and Mandarin, EALR is an English language only publication.

Today, EALR is published electronically on our website and distributed via Westlaw, LexisNexis, and HeinOnline. Additionally, we are currently pursuing other options for broader distribution.
