The Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Moot Court Competition is named for the late Giles Sutherland Rich, who was a judge on the Federal Circuit and its predecessor, the Court of Customs and Patent Appeals, from 1956 to 1999. The competition is a nationwide moot court competition run by the American Intellectual Property Law Association and covers issues involving patents, copyright, trademarks, and trade secrets. The problem is usually released in October, with the regional competitions taking place in four cities in March, and the finals taking place in Washington, D.C., in April, at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. More information about the competition is available on the AIPLA website.
