Penn ACS: Student Chapter of the Week!

Congratulations to Penn Law ACS for being honored as Student Chapter of the Week for Nov. 19, 2010!  Penn Law ACS has continued its tradition of excellence with a record 20 events for fall of 2010.

 

ACS QUIZZO!

ACS hosted four rounds of pay-to-play trivia to raise money for Equal Justice Foundation, which provides summer funding to public interest law students.  The victorious team above gets their name on the Quizzo Cup for posterity.  The event also featured an auction of art created by the Penn Law faculty.

2010 Midterm Elections

Penn Law ACS joined Rutgers ACS, the Philadelphia ACS Lawyers chapter, and the Philadelphia NLG Lawyers chapter to watch the midterm election returns come in on November 2, 2010.

Panelists and students come together to discuss important recent Supreme Court cases and key issues that may face the court in the near future. Panelists included, Pamela Karlan, Tom Goldstein, Ilya Somin, James Feldman and Adam Bonin.

Joe Williams from Democrats for Education Reform discusses the challenges faced by proponents of education reform and weighs the pros and cons of charter schools.

Supreme Court Review & Preview Panel 2009

Speakers Debo Adigbile (NAACP Legal Defense Fund Litigation Director), James Feldman (Penn Law Professor and former Assistant to the Solicitor General), Steven Shapiro (ACLU Legal Director), and Tom Goldstein (founder of SCOTUSblog) discuss recent court cases and argue over their future effects. 

 

The panel was moderated by Penn Law Professor Kermit Roosevelt.
