The Constitution in 2020 project is the American Constitution Society's attempt to give progressive legal thinkers a platform to not only discuss consitutional theory but practical ways those theories can be implemented through either the judiciary or other branches of government. This panel discussion is centered around the question: Given the conservative leanings of the Supreme Court and the federal judiciary, what is the future for progressive constitutional scholarship and activism? The panelists are: Kermit Roosevelt-Professor of Law at University of Pennsylvania Law School. Among Professor Roosevelt's many publications is his 2006 book The Myth of Judicial Activism which describes criteria for evaluating how activist the judiciary really is. Sophia Lee-Assistant Professor of Law at University of Pennsylvania Law School. Professor Lee's scholarship has focused on administrative law and the role non-judicial actors play in shaping constitutional theory. Jamal Greene-Associate Professor of Law at Columbia Law School. Professor Greene has written numerous articles and books on constitutional theory including biting critiques of originalism as a constitutional theory. Alice Ristroph-Professor of Law at Seton Hall Law School.
