Public Sector Recruiting and Job FairsOn Campus Recruiting ProgramsPublic sector employers have long been a part of CP&P's regular Fall On-Campus Recruiting program, interviewing second and third year students for summer and permanent employment. CP&P hosts public sector employers during our regular Fall On-Campus interviewing program. Penn Law also hosts public sector employers during its smaller, Spring On-Campus program. This program is primarily aimed at first year students looking for summer employment. Additionally, employers who are not able to visit Penn Law are encouraged to participate in our Requesting Resumes Program for both Fall and Spring On-Campus Recruiting. Employers from across the country invite first, second and third year students to apply for summer and permanent employment through this program. Finally, the Department of Justice interviews at Penn Law each fall for its Summer Law Intern and Attorney General Honors Programs. Job FairsWe send students each year to participate in the Equal Justice Works Career Fair and Conference in Washington DC, an event that attracts a national palate of employers as diverse as the Earth Justice Legal Defense Fund, Harlem Legal Services and the US Department of Education. This Conference provides law students with a great opportunity to meet national public interest and government employers, activists, practitioners and other law students committed to public service. Each February Penn Law teams up with six other local law schools to host the Public Interest/Public Service (PI/PS) Career Fair to bring regional and national employers together to interview students for summer and permanent public interest and government jobs. Past participants have included the Legal Aid Society (NY), Criminal Defense Division, the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Department (DC), the Public Defender of Dade County (Miami), Camden Regional Legal Services, Farmworker Division (Camden, NJ) and the Center for Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights (Philadelphia). Held each fall, the Four-in-One Job Fair provides second and third year students with the opportunity to interview with government and public interest employers, and smaller regional law firms, for summer and permanent jobs. Employers who have participated in this job fair include the Disabilities Law Project (Philadelphia), the District of Columbia Public Defender Service, the Defenders Association of Philadelphia, the Bronx District Attorney and the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia. |
