Bio
Michael J. Salmanson is the founding shareholder of Salmanson Goldshaw, PC in Philadelphia, which focuses primarily on employment law and discrimination issues. He has been active in death penalty litigation for more than 20 years. Prior to attending law school, Professor Salmanson worked at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund as the Assistant Coordinator of LDF's capital punishment project. While at LDF, he worked on the background investigation of death penalty cases for the racial bias study underpinning McClesky v. Kemp, 481 U.S. 279 (1987).
Professor Salmanson began his practice at Dechert, where he worked from 1986-1992. From 1992-1997, he worked for the firm of Mager, Liebenberg & White. He started his own firm in 1997. While in private practice, Salmanson has worked on several capital cases on a pro bono basis, both directly and as an adviser to other lead counsel. He has been on the adjunct faculty of Penn Law School since 1990, teaching the upper-level course on death penalty and habeas corpus.
