Pennsylvania Criminal Code Grading StudyThe Pennsylvania Legislature's Senate Judiciary Committee and House Judiciary Committee have jointly commissioned the Criminal Law Research Group to undertake a study of the grading system and judgements contained in the Pennsylvania Criminal Code. The CLRG is preparing an analysis and report, and will present its findings to a joint session of the two Committees. The report will examine the extent to which current code provisions define offenses with offense grades that are inconsistent with the relative seriousness of the offense as compared to the grades of other offenses in the code. It also will examine whether some offenses include within a single grade coduct of very different degrees of seriousness, for which different offense grades should be assigned. Finally, the study will examine what other difficulties exist regarding the grading of offense under the current code and what might best be done about the problems. Back to the CLRG homepage. |
