Tim Von Dulm, Reference Librarian

Tim is a reference librarian at Biddle Law Library. In addition to teaching legal research to first year students, Tim provides in-depth research assistance to faculty members. Tim also serves as Penn Law’s primary contact person for Lexis and Westlaw. A native of Los Angeles and a UCLA alum, Tim is an avid fan of UCLA athletics and is hoping that this year’s basketball team will once again make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament (thereby enabling him to forget about yet another disappointing season of Bruin football).

FCC Proposal to Loosen Cross-Ownership Restrictions

FCC chairman Kevin J. Martin has made a controversial proposal on November 9, 2007 to loosen media ownership restrictions by allowing, under certain conditions, the ownership of either a television or radio station by a newspaper company in 20 of the major U.S. markets. Current FCC rules ban the ownership of a newspaper and a radio or television station in the same city by the same company, unless the company has been granted a waiver by the FCC. Many are critical of the move, suggesting that it will be harmful to media diversity.
