Traditional Knowledge Versus Intellectual Property

A recent program on Public Television featured an interesting story about the conflict between intellectual property rights and traditional knowledge.

The Traditional Knowledge Digital Library is an ambitious project to catalog and digitize vast amounts of traditional Indian knowledge, such as that found in Ayurveda, a non-Western approach to medicine, from encroachment by Western companies seeking to patent everything from yoga to the use of the spice tumeric for healing wounds.
