How to Access E-Resources

Most online resources available through the Biddle Law Library are restricted to members of the Law School or the broader Penn community. Our system requires you to authenticate your affiliation with the Law School or Penn when you connect to those resources from off-campus. The information below introduces the different login screens you'll encounter when accessing e-resources and provides troubleshooting assistance for issues with accessing resources provided by the Biddle Law Library. If you are still not able to log into Biddle Law Library resources after consulting the troubleshooting tips, please report the issue using the form on this page.


1. Different Login Requests

In order to troubleshoot a login error, you'll need to determine what type of resource you wish to access. Here are the two login screens you'll encounter while using electronic resources for your research. Please note that if you try to access a database through a Google search or a link not provided by a Penn Library you will not be able to log in properly.

A. Biddle Law Library Resources

To log into online resources or LOLA's My Account, enter your name (either Lastname Firstname or Firstname Lastname) and the middle eight digits of your PennCard number:

B. Penn Library Resources

To log into Penn Library resources, enter your PennKey and PennKey password:

 


 

2. Troubleshooting Issues Connecting to Law Library Resources

If you are having issues logging into an electronic resource, please consult the different types of login screens above to determine what type of resource you are trying to access. If you are having issues connecting to Biddle Law Library electronic resources, please consult the tips below. If you are having issues connecting to a Penn Library resource, please visit the Penn Library Proxy Information Page. If you are having issues with connecting to Penn Law resources with your LawKey, please contact ITS.

Connecting to Biddle Law Library Electronic Resources or your Biddle Law Library LOLA Account:

  • Does the screen refresh after you type your name and PennCard number?
    • Try another browser
    • Make sure your browser accepts cookies. Browsers must accept cookies in order to use the library's electronic resources.
    • Some electronic resources (WilsonWeb databases are an example) will stop working until cookies are cleared. Please clear both cookies and cache via the "Tools" menu in your browser and try again before contacting a library staff member.
  • Do you get an error message about your account?
  • Do you get a 404 Not Found message?
    • The website may be currently unavailable. Please wait a few minutes and try again before contacting a library staff member.
  • Do you get a 502 Bad Gateway error?
