MEETING IN CHICAGO,
NOVEMBER 4-6,2005 |

Attached is a redlined
redraft of the revised UAGA showing the changes made by the Reporter from the
draft before the Conference at the summer Annual Meeting; based upon (i) the
floor comments and suggestions, (ii) edits suggested, and (iii) input received
since the Annual Meeting. While we will
use the redlined redraft throughout the upcoming meeting, a clean
copy of that draft also is attached.
PLEASE BRING THIS REDRAFT
WITH YOU TO THE CHICAGO MEETING.
Reporter Sheldon Kurtz will
be sending shortly a Memo giving some background and discussion of the issues
raised by this redraft.
I propose to take up the
definitions as they become pertinent to
a substantive section. Substantive
policy issues also should be discussed as they become pertinent to a particular
Section. We will read each Section verbatim first and then discuss that Section
in detail. IF YOU HAVE DRAFTING
SUGGESTIONS IT IS STRONGLY URGED THAT YOU WRITE THEM OUT IN ADVANCE AND BRING
THEM FOR DISCUSSION AT THE MEETING.
I also strongly urge
Commissioners to compare the redraft to your current state law and attempt to obtain
input from your local stakeholders.
