Re:

Agenda and Process

The next meeting of the Drafting Committee on the amended Uniform Anatomical Gift Act (UAGA) will be:

            Hotel Windsor

            1700 Benjamin Franklin Parkway

            Philadelphia, PA  19103

            (877) 784-8379

            March 18 – 20, 2005

                        (Rooms must be reserved by February 17, 2005)

            The materials attached for the meeting are:

1.                  Redlined Draft of Amended UAGA (redlined to 1987 version of Act) (also enclosed is a clean copy but we will work from the red-lined copy);

2.                  Memorandum from Sheldon R. Kurtz, Reporter commenting on draft; and

3.                  Projected Agenda for meeting (no guarantees we will be able to adhere to the schedule).

I strongly urge Commissioners to contact their state interest groups about this current draft.  We will anticipate that the states of members of the Drafting Committee will be the first introductions.

I urge all to frame most questions and concerns in the form of black letter text changes to the Reporter’s draft.  Please come prepared to do so.  After reasonable open discussion in depth, I will look to a Commissioner to make an appropriate motion.

I remind all that adoption of any amended act on a uniform basis to facilitate availability across state lines requires reasonable give and take and the development of as much consensus as possible.

Separately, an e-mail solicitation to join for a group “dutch treat” dinner on Friday evening will be sent out from the NCCUSL Chicago office.  If you are interested, please respond promptly.
