ALUMNI EMAIL
All Penn Law graduates have the option of receiving an Alumni Email Address/Penn Law Live account. Whether you finished your Penn Law career as a computer whiz or before email even existed, your new Penn Law Alumni email address is a great way to stay connected to the Penn Law community. And best of all, it's totally free!
Penn Law Live – http://live.law.upenn.edu - is a new email service now available to alumni. It uses Microsoft Hotmail Live technology and includes 5GB of storage space, Penn Law branding, and numerous other features. It also uses your Penn Law alumni email address (@alumni.law.upenn.edu).
What is Penn Law Live?
The Penn Law Live program includes the following features:
- Windows Live Hotmail with 5GB of storage
- Contacts Management tool
- Windows Live Messenger with instant messaging and file sharing.
- Mobile access available with a PDA or Web enabled cell phone.
- Windows Live Spaces
- There are two options for using an email program other than the Web interface: Outlook with the Outlook Connector or the free Windows Live Mail desktop program.
- More to come. We plan to work with Microsoft to continue to enhance the Live platform. See ideas.live.com for some of the products Microsoft is working on as part of its Live initiative.
To request a Penn Law Alumni email address/account, please submit our Alumni Email Request Form. If you already have an alumni email address, you can follow the instructions below to set up your Penn Law Live account. If you already have an account, you can login at http://live.law.upenn.edu
For more information, please read our Alumni Email FAQs.
How to Set up your Penn Law Live account
- If you already have a Penn Law Alumni Email Address, login to the Email Forwarding Tool using your LawKey username and password. (If you do not have an Alumni Email Address, please submit the Alumni Email Request Form before you can continue the set-up process.)
- Select Enable or disable your Penn Law Live email on the left-hand menu.
- Select Yes, use Penn Law Live and click Change. This instantly switches you over to Penn Law Live.
- You will then be shown a temporary password. (If you lose your temporary password you may return to this Tool later to see it again.) Login to Penn Law Live to choose a new password and answer some password recovery questions. You no longer need your temporary password after this. Please note: the login page has a Hotmail logo; this branding is replaced with that of Penn Law Live once you login.
- There will be two occasions when you will be required to enter a security code to prove that you are not a robot, e.g. the first time you compose a message.
- At any point you may enable forwarding to an external email provider such as Gmail or Yahoo. This is done at the same Email Forwarding Tool just by choosing Forward email to other email addresses. You can choose up to three addresses which work independently from Penn Law Live.
Important Notice on Account Inactivity
All alumni accounts that have been inactive for three consecutive months are automatically suspended and cleared of messages. Logging in again
will reactivate the account and allow it to receive messages again.
