"The Society [Society of the Alumni of the Law School of the University of Pennsylvania] hopes thereby to keep you abreast of newsworthy items concerning Alumni, faculty and students, so that you may know of their accomplishments and, through them, take pride in the Law School."

So it was written in 1956, when the first "Law Alumni News" edition was published by Penn Law. In the following 54 years, Penn Law's alumni journal (first the "Law Alumni News," followed by the "Law Alumni Journal," and now the "Penn Law Journal") has been the best outlet for sharing news, notices, and events with our alumni.

If you have an event to share with your fellow classmates, please email the Journal or call us at (215) 573-7182. You can view online copies of the Penn Law Journal, beginning with the Fall 1999 issue, by clicking here. Older issues can be found on file in the Biddle Law Library.

Started in 2009, the Jurist e-newsletter is a way for Penn Law to compliment the Journal through a format that is vibrant and more accessible. Breaking news, photos, student and faculty achievements, video clips, and links to upcoming Penn Law events reach the inboxes of over 9,300 friends and alumni.

If you don't currently receive the Jurist, please contact Nancy Rasmussen at the Law Development and Alumni Relations office. All it takes is an email address to have news and updates from and about the Penn Law community!

We are proud to list those alumni and friends who give to the Law School in our Annual Report. If you would like to be included in the 2011 Annual Report, please visit the Ways to Make a Gift page. This current fiscal year ends on June 30, 2011. Thank you!

PENN LAW ORAL HISTORY

As our alumni have ventured out into the world, many individuals pioneered new trails, participated in ground-breaking events, or witnessed the historic events of the last few decades. The skills gained at Penn Law have given them a unique insight into many of the key events of the 20th and 21st centuries. In order to ensure that these stories are not lost, Penn Law has begun an Oral History project to record these memories in perpetuity (and preferably on video) for the benefit of future generations.

There are two key aspects to the Oral History Project:

  • to record stories and recollections about Penn Law, her professors, and the experiences of students throughout the years;
  • to highlight the impact of a Penn Law education through first-hand narrations about achievements, challenges and relationships by the Alumni who lived them.

After all, the history of our alumni is the history of Penn Law!

If you would like to schedule an Oral History interview session, please call Dori Pavel (215-898-6303) or Andy Maynard (215-898-2809).
