Penn Law has always had its share of bold ambitions that have shaped legal education
nationwide. In recent years, we've accelerated the pace of change.
In a distinction that sets us apart among law schools, we have worked with Penn's other
schools and academic departments to create a rich, integrated program for the study of law.
Take the "Deals" course, where Penn Law and Wharton students team up to explore the
mechanics and economic logic of structuring deals. In another instance of learning that
integrates disciplinary perspectives, Penn Law students collaborate with medical and social
work students, under the guidance of faculty from those fields, on dependency cases in
Family Court.
How does Penn Law encourage broad thinkers?
- Almost three-fourths of faculty hold advanced degrees in other disciplines.
- Almost half of our faculty, a higher proportion than any other law school, hold joint
appointments.
- More than half of our students take classes across schools.
- Almost one-fourth of recent graduates received a certificate of study at Wharton as part
of their law degree.
What we are doing at Penn Law is preparing lawyers who have the broad understanding to
make decisions in any sector, in any setting.
