Robert L. Friedman

ROBERT L. FRIEDMAN L’67, a senior managing director of The Blackstone Group, has made a leadership gift to the Institute of Law and Economics and to Annual Giving. Friedman, Blackstone’s chief administrative officer and chief legal officer, is an expert in mergers and acquisitions and private equity matters. Previously, Friedman was a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett for 25 years. He was a senior member of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions practice.

Friedman serves as director of Axis Capital Holdings Limited, Houghton Mifflin Holdings, Inc., Northwest Airlines, Inc., and TRW Automotive Holdings Corporation. He also serves as chairman of the board of advisors of the Institute of Law and Economics at Penn Law School, as a member of the board of visitors of Columbia College, and as a trustee of Chess-in-the-Schools and New Alternatives for Children, two charitable organizations with programs for disadvantaged youth in New York City.
