RENOWNED CON LAW SCHOLAR HOSTED BY INSTITUTE
FOR LAW AND PHILOSOPHY
In March, Cass Sunstein, the Karl N. Llewellyn Distinguished Service
Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Chicago Law School and
Department of Political Science, presented “Why Does the American Constitution
Lack Social and Economic Guarantees?” The lecture was co-sponsored by
Penn’s Institute for Law and Philosophy and the Program in Philosophy,
Politics, and Economics.

Institute for Law and Philosophy hosted several distinguished scholars
this academic year as part of the Legal Theory Workshop series. Among
the presenters this year: David Sobel of Bowling Green University
presented “Practical Reasons and Mistakes of Practical Rationality;”
Mark Greenberg, professor of Philosophy at Princeton presented “The
Conditions for Legal Content: A Necessary Connection Between Law and
Value;” Jeff McMahan of the University of Illinois presented “Preventing
the Existence of People with Disabilities;” Jules Coleman of Yale
Law School presented “Methodology in Legal Theory;” and Scott Shapiro
of Cardozo Law School presented “Law, Plans and Practical Reason.” |
