Constitutional Law & Related FieldsPenn Law's legal tradition began at the time of our nation's founding when our first Professor, James Wilson, member of the U.S. Supreme Court, framer of the Constitution, and signer of the Declaration of Independence, presented his inaugural lecture to President George Washington, Vice President John Adams and other dignitaries. Penn Law continues to have an unparalleled strength in Constitutional Law. Our faculty contribute greatly to scholarship in the field and provide insight into the myriad constitutional issues and challenges facing our country and democratizing counties around the world. Students interested in constitutional law issues can choose from a broad course selection in the area. They can also seek an editorship on the highly esteemed Journal of Constitutional Law. And Penn Law, unique among law schools, has a partnership with the National Constitution Center, which opened in 2003 in Philadelphia. Together we sponsor symposia and speakers, and our faculty are frequent panelists and moderators at NCC events. Students can also work there as part of their pro bono public service requirement. |
