Catherine Carr
Catherine Carr began her commitment to social justice issues at the University of Pennsylvania
Law School. She started her career at Community Legal Services (Philadelphia) over 20 years ago.
She is CLS’s first female, and longest tenured, Executive Director. |

Andre Dennis
Andre Dennis graduated from Howard University School of Law in 1969, at which time he joined the
Philadelphia firm of Stradley, Ronon, Stevens and Young. Initially involved with criminal law
practice, he later switched to civil practice. He has handled a number of high profile civil rights
cases. During the 1980’s he represented one of the members of the activist group MOVE, Romona Africa,
in her civil suit against the Philadelphia police and fire commissioners. |

Daniel Greenburg
Daniel Greenberg served for over a decade as the President and Attorney-in-Chief for the Legal Aid
Society in New York City, one of the country’s oldest and largest providers of legal services to the
poor. He is currently special counsel at Schulte, Roth and Zable where he oversees the firm’s pro
bono programs. |

Ira Kurzban
Ira Kurzban is a civil rights and immigration lawyer. He received widespread media coverage during
the 1980’s for his representation of Haitian immigrants in Miami. He also served as US attorney for
Haiti’s elected governments since 1991. In 2004, he represented Haiti’s President Jean-Bertrand
Aristid, who was force from office and later went into exile. |

Bruce Terris
Bruce Terris was a co-founder of the Center for Law and Social Policy, a non-profit organization
representing consumers and the poorer before federal administrative agencies and the courts. He worked
in the office of the Solicitor General during the Kennedy administration. Terris is a founding partner
of Terris, Pravlik & Millian, a firm specializing in environmental and civil rights cases. A renowned
Supreme Court litigator, he has been involved with a number of high profile cases including Baker v. Carr and Friends of the Earth v. Laidlaw Environmental Services. |
