Documentaries and the Law: Clemency Advocacy Project

Kevin Stanford

View Film

Kevin Stanford, a juvenile offender, was sentenced to death for the rape and murder of Baerbel Poore, a 20-year-old gas station attendant. By way of mitigating circumstances, the video describes a childhood marked by neglect and repeated sexual abuse. It also reflects a radically different post-conviction adulthood characterized by responsibility, remorse, and love and regard, particularly his daughter, as well as his victim's survivors. Stanford's sentence was commuted to life by Kentucky Governor Paul Patton. The video was produced and directed by his attorneys, Gail Robinson and Margaret O'Donnell, and shot and edited by Gail's son, Sean McNally.
