William Draper Lewis

Graduated from Penn Law in 1891. Professor from 1896 to 1924. Dean from 1896 to 1914.

Lewis was the most influential dean of the first part of the twentieth century. The building that is now Silverman Hall was built during his tenure. He left Penn Law to help found and be the first director of the American Law Institute.
