John Graver Johnson

Graduated from Penn Law in 1863. Received an honorary LL.D. in 1915.

Johnson was one of the most famous lawyers of his time. He turned down an appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court twice. He also owned one of the finest art collections in the country. He left this to the City of Philadelphia, and it became the nucleus of the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
